Bakarpur

Mercy Home

This home is located in suburbs of Narowal, in the Punjab province.

Pakistan is a hotbed of conflict, with clashes between Islamic groups and the government. There are suicide bombings and killings associated with terrorism. In such antagonistic settings deeply rooted hostility against Christians thrives. Though the constitution grants religious freedom, Shariah law rules, and Christians suffer.

In recent years, the violence is escalating. A Pakistani woman who’d dare to marry a Christian brings trouble not only on herself, but on her entire family. It is not uncommon that the Muslims would kidnap and execute in addition to the newlyweds, other family members as well. If Pakistani man is open about his Christian faith, he would not only be beaten and

brutalized but his business would be sabotaged too.

If Christian girl is abducted and forcefully married to a Muslim, authorities would not be very forthcoming to the girl's family in providing help in searching for her. Although the Pakistani High Court has ordered Muslims to stop these cruel practices, some believe that widely tolerated “blasphemy law” and bribing of the local police allow them to persist.

In the midst of escalating violence children are the silent witnesses of persecution and terror. Homes are destroyed and churches burned down. Orphaned children grow up without hope, left alone to forge a life.
Can you imagine growing up like this?

Warm Blankets Orphan Care is striving to offer an island of hope in this sea of despair. We are trying to establish and support fifteen church based orphan homes in Pakistan, including the Bakarpur Mercy Home in Narowal, Punjab.

Will you join with us in caring for the children of the Bakarpur Mercy Home? Life in Pakistan is turbulent, but Bakarpur Home is built upon the strongest foundation of all: Jesus Christ.
