Sorong

Mercy Home

Mercy Sorong was established in 2005 in Papua, Indonesia as an answer to the suffering of Papua's orphans and less fortunate children. The children of Mercy Sorong are from Papua, Sorong, Aimas, Ambon, Ayamaru, Maluku, Manokwari, and Seram.

Many of the children at Mercy Sorong came from extremely poor families. Currently, nineteen children live at this home and helped to construct the current Mercy Sorong home.

Every morning at 5 am, all the children wake and gather to pray for one hour. Then it's onto doing the scheduled housework and preparing for school. Some of the children go in the mornings, and others in the afternoon. After everyone comes home they gather to study lessons, eat dinner and 7PM worship time. They close the day by praying together and it's lights out at 10pm for every child.

The home leaders are Benny and Ince Tahapary. Benny graduated from STEMA Maluku in 1992. Their calling in life is

for children's ministry and to help kids grow up into loving servants for Christ. They have been serving the kids at Mercy Sorong since its opening in 2004.
