Rote

Mercy Home

This home is built on Rote Island, Indonesia. Rote is a part of the East Nusa Tenggara Province, located in the west coast of Kupang.

Rote island lies in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara Province, located off the coast of West Timor, near Kupang. Roads, electricity and running water are uncommon luxuries in this region. After a series of droughts that destroyed area crops, it’s hard to tell which is harder to find: food or employment. But in the southeastern-most area of the country, hope can be the hardest thing of all to find.

The first Church Orphan Home on Rote was completed in spring of 2011, when twenty orphans were the first children to move in. The local community rejoiced at the opening of the home. This was a day to celebrate, worship and find hope once again. The orphans were at the heart of the

villager’s festivities when they carried in gifts for the home sponsors, so proud that they, too, were able to show generosity and give thanks.

Rote Mercy’s children have shown great joy to have a place to sleep. Beds, mattresses, pillows, and sheets are all exciting additions to their lives; but most exciting of all, they now have a place to be safe, to learn and be loved, a place to worship and the chance to be a treasured child in God’s family.

We look forward to further helping these kids and others like them in this community. Current needs include medical/dental teams that can go to these areas to give treatment.
