Angel

Home

The Angel Home is located in the town of Alagaya Palem.

The most excluded population in India has nothing to do with caste hierarchies or gender discrimination. In a culture pervasive with inherent discrimination, disabled children are considered the most excluded group in the nation.

In India, disabled children are nearly five times less likely to be in school than even those in the lowest caste. Most of the children in the Angel Home are rejected from public school because of their disabilities, but we will not let them be deprived of an education. We provide specialized therapies and classes right in the home.

Despite the physical and mental barriers, each child has already overcome so much:

Caleb was not given the

opportunity to study until he arrived at the Angel Home. Working through cerebral palsy and a struggle to speak, he is already excelling beyond what anyone imagined. We hoped that he would catch up with his age group and he has already skipped two grades.

John has Down Syndrome and is severely delayed developmentally. He cannot speak at all, except for simple sounds, but through our life-skill training programs, he has learned to handle most of his own self-care needs. He even helps the younger boys around the home!

Isaac was abandoned in a hospital as a preschool-age boy and his time in an orphanage left him emotionally and developmentally delayed. Isaac does not have a cognitive disability, but was denied the opportunity to study because of a vision condition. Since his corrective surgery, Isaac has been doing well and is on track to catch up with his classmates.

Society has discarded these children, but at the Angel Home, we believe that each child has equal value and limitless potential. Do you believe that, too? Will you join us in caring for these children?
